Today In History
For the first time in many, many months, I cooked lunch! *teehee* However, I won’t be showing you all that cookings I’ve made, just one particular dish would be fine - because this was my favorite:

Sayur manis!!!!
Even shopping for sayur manis is quite hard in KL. I found mine at Jusco. Kesian the sayur manis. The way they display it on the vegetable counter pun so kesian. They tied the whole sayur manis (both leaves and those looooong stem) and wrap it up with a plastic. Really sad way of treating a yummy vegetable. Not forgetting “vegetablist”. (I made that word up, something like racism. Pilih bangsa. LOL!) Anyway, lunch was great.
No casualties were reported yet from consuming my cooking.
You will be hearing much of me from the kitchen soon.

Hai, it’s good there’s another webpage where I can fine a rungus URL. Actually, I also started it way back in the late 90s, but I didn’t maintain it eversince. I can’t even remember my URL now. It was under Geocities. But before that, a Rungus webpage was created by my nephew, Bill, in the beginning of 90s when he was studying in the USA. In that webpage we introduced the Rungus way of life and the culture.
I’m rally happy that there’s always somebody who like us are very proud of our roots. I know the rungus are fast going to extinction because not many of our youngsters could speak this wonderful mother tongue of ours.
Yes, I too, love sayur manis fried with egg. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find in KL.
Yeah, I also lived in KL before, in Bukit Antarabangsa to be exact, but now I work in Qatar and live in Manila. I have travelled & worked quite a bit around the world but nothing compares to KL, and the best thing is I am a pure Rungus.

Jahiah : By any chance you’re related to Joel Simbaku? Because Simbaku family are related to the Kastum family from our grandmother side.
We might be related, you know.

Hello … It is good to stumble upon this website. Been wondering if there is anyone out there that is remotely related to me. I guess I am part Rungus and part Dusun of Tamparuli. And yes … I am related to Jahiah and Joel Simbaku as well as to all the Simbaku clan out there. It has been such a long time since I have seen sayur manis. It brings back memories of my childhood. it is 5 degrees F or -15 degrees Celsius where I live now. Anyway here is the website link to my sister Rosnah Simbaku Mills if anyone cares to check it out:

Robin- Thanks for dropping by. Any chance you heard of Danny Simbaku? He used to be my classmate in college. Sounds like you have settled down somewhere else huh?
Wow!, really loved to see your sis website. She runs the place?

Hi Kay…Yeah…I have heard of Danny Simbaku. But I have not seen him in a very long time. And yes…I have settled down here in the good old U.S.A. in the state of Ohio. Well…the Sinurambi is my sister’s “house” if you can call it that. But she also runs it as a bed-and-breakfast place too…among other things that she does. She and her husband Terry Mills also runs KK Adventure Park and Borneo Biking Adventures. Here are more website links:
